About Advent Life-Light… (scroll down for prices and info about ADVENT 2020- WORKSHOP)
Carole made the artwork, words and short movies in her cottage in Portglenone, Northern Ireland during a recent Advent. She then complied the collection into and Advent Calendar, A3 poster and card/note-let. As the name suggests, the collection is inspired by the Spirit of this season, music and artwork from the Renaissance. 

The free standing calendar shows an image and words per day and the viewer is lead to the movies by scanning each QR code with their phone, I-pad or tablet. Each movie has its own narrative and style. There are variations which combine artwork, words, Haiku’s, audio and reflective silence. If you decide to use the QR codes to access the short videos, just download a free QR scanner on to your phone, I-pad or tablet. Then scan the individual QR code on the back of each calendar page and you should be brought to the short film on-line for each day which supports the hard copy calendar.

The A3 poster for framing and cards/ note-lets show the collective images from the calendar. The combined images work together yet they are not exclusive Christmas images making these items suitable for any time of the year.

ADVENT 2020….SPECIAL INVITATION…

You are invited to take part in workshops to make an Advent hanging (a fee is required to cover facilitation and a calendar posted to your home).

Artist and facilitator, Carole Kane who created the Advent Life-Light calendar will lead a group of people through a series of creative workshops during the four Sunday’s of Advent. She will help you start a different Advent piece each Sunday and you can “dabble” at this work during the week. She will offer prompts of inspiration and also give guidance on arts-based techniques. Creative processes will include mixed-media pieces from textiles, papers, photography, possibly writing, etc. Art-work can be literal or abstract i.e. you will find our about some colour principles and tricks to help your work “sing”.

Themes found in Advent are imminently relevant such as a sense of journey in uncertainty, place, waiting, light in the darkness, seeking hope… (sorry…No Mariah Carey or sequenced Santa’s in this creative hub!) Before Christmas, you should have a collection of at least four pieces which you can make into a hanging for your home.

We’re all mindful that Advent 2020 will be different from other years due to restrictions and staying at home. This interactive group experience will be a way to find a creative and colourful alternative to the news of the day.

Dates: 29th Nov, 6th, 13th, 20th, & 23rd Dec afternoons at 4.30pm ( we will celebrate our art in the last slot!)

What do you need? First…just come as you are. You don’t need to be an artist, just willing to relax, experiment and have some fun.

Materials: basic art materials that you have at home or can buy in the supermarket. A range of coloured/textured papers/ wrappers, tissue paper from the likes of shoe boxes, newspaper, card, crayons, paints, pencils, scrap fabric, ribbons, button box, etc. Nothing too prescriptive and just bits and bobs.

Themes: the Advent story as seen in Advent Life-Light and the idea of “journey”. We will also use a range of inspiration from music, poetry, film, photography, nature, etc.

Cost: £65.00 includes a copy of the Advent Life-Light calendar including post and packaging (if you live in the UK, an additional fee if you live in oner parts of the world and a discount if you already own one of these calendars).
